The HumAIne Foundation emerges as a transformative institution born from and led by the Global South, dedicated to reshaping the landscape of technological innovation and social transformation. In an era where artificial intelligence and emerging technologies are fundamentally altering global dynamics, the Foundation stands as a testament to the Global South’s capacity for autonomous development and leadership in responsible technological advancement.

Our mission transcends conventional approaches to development and innovation, establishing a comprehensive framework that authentically represents Global South perspectives and priorities. While welcoming international collaboration, the Foundation maintains an unwavering commitment to Global South leadership and decision-making autonomy, ensuring that technological development serves the genuine needs of communities while preserving cultural heritage and indigenous knowledge systems.

The HumAIne Foundation is an international non-profit organization dedicated to harnessing the power of technology for social good, we see it as a common public good and seek to have it recognized and availed as such.

We are active participants in bridging the digital divide by sharing knowledge and expertise amongst and throughout the Global South on how to collectively develop and deploy responsible technological solutions that empower marginalized communities, promote sustainable development, protect our environment, uphold human rights of present and future generations, to overcome the systemic and structural inequealities and obstacles that stand between us and an inclusively just, safe and peaceful world for eveyone.

We are a leading platform for thought and action, facilitating a digital transformation that bridges the digital divide and fosters a more just and sustainable world. This includes the Creation of the Global South Synergies & Resilience Platform, a digital hub for empowerment, collaboration and resource mobilization all across the Global South, built to shape our future amongst ourselves.

Mision

To promote and develop responsible technological innovation with a demonstrable positive impact on social, environmental, and humanitarian challenges at the international level. Our core aim is to safeguard human rights of present and future generations, preserve common goods, and empower communities, particularly in the Global South, to build a more just, safe and sustainable future for us and our planet. This involves the development, promotion, application and implementation of programs, tools, and technological community-driven measurable solutions that foster ethical and responsible innovation with scalable societal impact. We focus on areas such as strengthening the rule of law, improving institutional trust, protecting human rights and privacy, conflict resolution, peacebuilding, sustainable development, humanitarian assistance, gender equality, environmental protection, and bridging the digital divide.

Vision

We want to permanently shift the paradigm of techno-dependency by contributing to a Global South full with leaders that are internationally recognized for their innovative and impactful technological solutions that promote social justice, environmental sustainability, and human rights. We envision a world where technology is a force for good, empowering all communities to participate equally and meaningfully in the digital economy and global society.

Ultimately, as Global South we want to be united and collectively contribute to laying fertile soil for international peace and security, especially for us who have been disproportionately affected by armed conflict and structural inequalities, and actually reaping it together to harness emerging technologies for the benefit and protection of all of humanity.

Who we are

Guided by our core values of protecting human rights and dignity of present and future generations, environmental stewardship, cultural preservation and respect, and equity and inclusion. Our commitment extends to peace and security, promoting peaceful technological advancement, preventing misuse and holding those who do fully accountable for it.

We are a social movement led by our Founder, Jimena Sofia Viveros Alvarez, and we have a three-tiered structure:

A Global South Leadership Council

Community-leaders of the Global South that can help us identify the most pressing issues and the communities most affected by them to channel our resources more effectively, and are most welcome to acommpany and advise us throughout our journeys and the projects of their choice.

An International Advisory Board

Internationally recognized experts in our fields of work that provide strategic advice, mentorship and facilitate building alliances to achieve our goals and initiatives.

Human Rights: We prioritize the protection and promotion of human rights throughout our work, ensuring technology is used in ways that respect individual dignity and privacy, for present and future generations.
Environmental Sustainability: We promote environmentally conscious technological solutions that advance sustainability and mitigate climate change for the protection of our planet.
Sustainable Development: Reaping the benefits of emerging technologies to solve our structural or systemic obstacles to reach the United Nations Sustainable Develeopment Goals equally across the Global South.

Leave no one behind: Every single individual matters to us, even if you do not identify or want to associate with any group or community, you are still very welcome to join our social movement by yourself.
Gender inclusion: We commit that the beneficiaries of 60% of our work will be women and girls.
Transparency and Accountability: We are committed to maintaining high standards of transparency and accountability in all our activities.
Collaboration and Partnership: We believe in the strength of collaboration, working closely with local partners, governments, and international organizations, while respecting the ultimate decision-making of the communities at stake.
Ownership and agency of the Global South. This is our time to redefine our narrative and decide the future we want to build for ourselves amongst ourselves.
Peace and Security: There cannot be any form of sustainable development in the abscence of peace and security. Communities all across the Global South deserve to live in peace, having the certainty that their physical integrity, livelihood, natural resources, land and possessions, are duly safeguarded under a rule of law abiding system, in which accountability is an effective recourse available to everyone everywhere.
